Very different from anything in castle ravenloft where you can and WILL walk in circles without guidance. Slavers is actually laid out in a logical enough fashion that you don't really need a map. I'm with you on Sunrise - I had to run that one scores of times for gear farming but it wasn't a chore. That is literally the only caveat and 90% of why I don't run Ravenloft(the other 10% is amber temple). Castle Ravenloft has never been more blocky. I would like invitation to dinner 100 times more if the map actually worked. This castle is useful for Dungeon Masters or intrepid adventurers to explore this expansive dungeon layout. Most of the others - I can take em or leave em, but at least I don't dislike playing them the way I dislike playing some shit like ToEE or Slavers. I happen to believe that Invitation to Dinner is one of the best quests SSG/Turdbine have made in years. Still, I don't mind Ravenloft for the most part. DDO always has a problem with multifloor maps, so Castle Ravenloft, Amber Temple, and Oath of Vengeance maps are only about halfway usable. The dark silhouette of Castle Raven loft looks down on this village from its perch atop a 1,000-foot-high column of rock known as the Pillarstone of Ravenloft.Death House and Sunrise may as well not have maps.

East of the mountains lies the village of Barovia, shrouded in mist and bereft of walls and defenses. Expedition to Castle Ravenloft is a stand-alone supplement set for any D&D worlds, and only requires the three core books for usage. Between Vallaki and Krezk lie the ruins of Argynvostholt, the fallen bastion of a knightly order called the Order of the Silver Dragon, wiped out by Strahd and his army. This 2006 version includes maps from the original Ravenloft adventure, and new character-generation options. West of the two mountains, atop a hill, stands the Abbey of Saint Markovia, around which the Barovian Barovians built a walled village named Krezk. On the south side of the lake rests the town of Vallaki, enclosed by a palisade. Between these two mountains stands Lake Zarovich, which is fed by streams of ice-cold water pouring down the face of Mount Baratok.

Baratok's slightly smaller twin, Mount Ghakis, is mostly bald with tufts of trees here and there. The largest of these peaks is Mount Baratok, with its snow-covered cap and rugged slopes. The evergreen trees of the Svalich Woods climb the sides of the mountains that enclose the valley. I dont DM but Ive created a RPG Warhammer 40k for my first DM session (Since I have far better undestanding of the 40k universe vs DND. A deathly stillness hangs over the dark woods, which are patrolled constantly by Strahd's wolves and other servitors. Rolling thunderclouds cast a gray pall over the land of Barovia.
